It is with heavy hearts that we pay tribute to the late Robert Wakelin and recognize his contributions to the survey industry. Robert was born and raised in Prince Edward Island. He had an early passion for engineering and turned his focus toward land surveying soon after he began dating a local surveyor’s daughter, Lori. They eventually married, settled in Charlottetown and had a daughter. Robert loved family and never missed the opportunity to celebrate family traditions and special occasions.
His entrepreneurial spirit called, and he took ownership of Island Surveying and Engineering in 2011. Joined by Anthony Inman, PEILS, he continued to grow the company, serving a faithful customer base with a diverse range of legal, residential, and commercial clients.
In addition to his surveying, Robert had an appetite for land development. His vision of transforming raw land into bustling subdivisions was strong and, he contributed to the development of several new subdivisions within the Charlottetown area.
Robert truly had a lifelong love of the outdoors. This was evident in his passion for fishing, hunting, and photographing his favourite landscapes of Prince Edward Island. He felt a strong calling to rescue his fellow man and served 15 years with PEI’s Ground Search and Rescue team.
The sudden loss of Robert in 2023 was felt by his family, friends, business colleagues, staff and clientele. We recognize Robert’s distinguished career, his love for ISE, and the lasting legacy he leaves with every signed survey plan and carefully placed survey marker.
ISE continues to serve its clients as usual and we thank you for your continued support.
